Problem updating client

Postby zaxbysauce » 26 Aug 2014, 17:45

I tried to open up FAF today after a decently long absence and it tells me my client is out of date and needs to be updated. No problem. It downloads the new client per usual but then as soon as the install starts it tells me there is a problem with the Windows Installer package and a DLL required for the install to complete cannot be run. I have tried downloading v 0.10.120 with the same results. I have asked it to show the log file but it never does anything. Relevant info is below.

Windows 8.1 x64
all vcredist packages installed (x86 and x64)
logged on as an admin

Windows App Logs
Product: Forged Alliance Forever -- Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action AI_ResolveKnownFolders, entry: AI_ResolveKnownFolders, library: C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Temp\MSIAFBB.tmp

Any help would be appreciated.

The particular file the windows App log shows it has a problem with is slightly different each time. Here is another log from a failed install for reference.

Nevermind. I deleted everything in the Temp folder (it had over 3 gigs of crap in it) and set the folder permissions to full control for everyone and it installed fine. Oh well.
