FA World Cup
(Which Germany WONT necessarily win)

This is a team tourney consisting of 8 teams separated in 2 groups of 4-5 players each. It begins on 28th of June and each round takes 1 week. Qualifying begins 1 week earlier.

FORMAT: 2 groups of 4 teams round-robin. There are 3 rounds where every team in a group play each other team in their group. Games consist of 2 2vs2 with rating limit of 4200 on 2 different maps and a 3vs3 with a rating limit of 6000. For each 2vs2 win you get 2 points and for a 3vs3 3 points, if one team wins all the games they get 1 extra point for a total of 8 max points per round. Top 2 team in each group qualify to semi-finals (1st place in group A plays 2nd place in group and vice-versa). Final and 3rd place match are 3 2vs2, 2 3vs3 same points system.

TEAMS: Teams consist of 4 or 5 players of any rating and same nationality and a team captain. Any 2 players can play in any game.Line-ups don't have to be announced before games.If there are multiple teams who want to represent same nation they have to fight each other in a qualifying round (2 2vs2, 1 3vs3 same rules as above) to see who play in the final tournament.I will allow NZ and Australia to form same team if they desire as well as Holland-Belgium and Brazil-Portugal. You have to ask if want another such alliance.

PRIZE: 1st place: Special avatar
2st place and 3rd place to be decided.

MORE THINGS: Games can be played anytime during the week and replays must be posted on this thread. If a player disconnects its up to the other team if they want to continue or rehost.

isnt it a bit strange if a so called "World Cup" has a rating limit?

World Cup includes that the best players of each country play against each other but if you limit the rating not the best players only some good players play

If there isn't a way to reduce Germany chances to win the the whole tourney will make 0 sense.

Doubt there would be such a big issue with that. Sure BH is both the best 1v1 and teamgame player around, but Voodoo while being a great 1v1 player would definitely be beatable in a teamgame setting. The rest of the top german players are definitely beatable as well, many of them are actually setons players
Not complaining though, I like the tourny idea either way

Being good at 1v1 is very directly translateable into teamgames for the most part I think.
And Blackheart Voodoo Zock team would just be awful to play against :/

As long as there is only one team from Germany in the actual cup I think it's fine. If they are overwhelming favorites than whatever. It'd be awesome to see that dream team! A world cup should be the best players! And who knows? Sometimes miracles happen!

As long as there is only one team from Germany in the actual cup I think it's fine. If they are overwhelming favorites than whatever. It'd be awesome to see that dream team! A world cup should be the best players! And who knows? Sometimes miracles happen!

We've seen some surprises in team games in the past, so I don't see the problem.
