Crash on "end game" or by winning

Postby Xonatos » 29 Dec 2013, 08:39

Just picked up and started playing this game and I have tried to search for this issue elsewhere. From what searching I've done it appears GPGnet had a fix for this issue but of course they've since shut down that site. Whenever I win a skirmish or "end game", I get back to main menu but a couple seconds later the game crashes to desktop. Anyone know what the fix for this was?

I ran the game with /log C:\supcomlog.txt in the target line. Log file attached. Help much appreciated.

Windows 7 64 bit
GTX 650

Have updated video drivers and DirectX

After much additional fiddling and searching, was able to figure out the issue. In short, Forged Alliance does not like 7.1 surround sound. To reconfigure your speakers (for Windows 7): Control Panel->Sound->playback tab->configure. I brought it down to Stereo and got it to work perfectly...no issues with restarting skirmishes or ending or winning games.

Then I incrementally reconfigured the speakers up to higher quality settings until it crashed the game. In my case I was able to get up to 5.1 surround.

it appears GPGnet had a fix for this issue but of course they've since shut down that site

May or may not have been the solution that was posted on gaspowered...but worked for me.
