Mod Vault is being silly

Postby IceDreamer » 01 Nov 2013, 05:21

So I wanted to upload some updated versions of my mods and it really doesn't like it. No matter what I did with name changes and folder name changes and UID changes, it simply insists that the new versions are 'Already in the Vault'.

So I made a new mod, same game-content, but brand new UID, brand new folder, brand new name, brand new mod_info.lua

Nope, this mod is 'Already in the Vault'.

So, if you would PilOt, I know it's a bit of trouble... Could you please delete from the Vault all mods uploaded by me, and all mods with variation on the titles 'Beam mod' and 'ASF mod', which should all have descriptions marking them as versions of mine as I developed and tested them. Then I can try again to upload a master-mod fusion of both.

i have the same problems.

the upload dates of mods keep changing randomly. it does not show me the mods i have uploaded.
it does not even show all the mods. i have downloaded some mods from the mod vault which are not longer in there (at least i cannot find them), but when i start a game with such an "invisible" mod, my colleague can download the "invisible" mod from the mod vault.
i cannot upload any mods anymore as well with the same error popping up.

the mod vault used to work, but it seems fu**ed up...

It only displays the last 50 (or 100?) uploaded mods. Doesn't mean that older mod aren't there anymore, they are just not listed.

Yeah that's great and all, but it doesn't really answer my problem...

this behavior is even worse than having no mod vault (at least in the long run).

example:
i am a person, who likes to play a game for some months, and after that play another game. i found a great mod for supcomFA and uploaded it to the mod vault. i played this mod with a couple of friends a couple of times, then i found another new interesting game and started playing it.

after a while, the mod vault does not show this mod anymore... most people start to forget the mod.

somebody else comes along and finds the same mod again, he wants to play it. he wants to upload it to the mod vault. this is not possible. he cannot play this mod with faf...

----------------------------------

please show always ALL the mods (or the lastest versions of them) in the mod vault. you can introduce "pages" as in the map vault, if you want to.
not showing a mod (and therefore making it impossible for people to download them) is a really bad thing!

I will remove it in the next build.

I don't have any to give you.

If it's say it's in the vault, it's probably that something with the same name, file name or UID is already in it.

Except that if that's the case, you need to scrap the entire vault because the programming is shite.

I've re-foldered, re-named the folder, re-named the mod identity in mod_info.lua, created about a dozen new UIDs, everything. Even the content is something I've not uploaded before, because while the changes are the same, it now hooks destructively, so it's much, much bigger, containing all the unit data. There is no possibility, a 0% chance, that this is already in the database. I have no clue what it can possibly be recognising.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and can you delete the old versions please, I don't want people downloading that crap any more.

ASF Mod V1
ASF Mod V0
Beam Mod V0
Beam Mod V1
Beam Mod 1.1 V1
Beam Mod V0.2 V0

Yeah, all those can bite the dust, as it were.

Don't worry, it will be gone on the next build.
