Proxy Server - BAD if you're not EU

Hey all.

Any chance of disabling this fine tool for use by AU/Oceanic players? It's godawful for us. 700+ ping to a countryman isn't a Good Thing.

On another note, what would be required to get one set up in AU for Southern hemisphere players? I can arrange for a host machine with backbone connection.

What do you need for a proxy server? Bandwidth/Server specs. I can host one in South Africa or help with one in Australia.

I see. Have you got a VM or something I can just load up or what OS do you need ? I'm ready to host one in SA right now. I can do a bit better than a atom processor though >> viewtopic.php?f=39&t=4286

I can help with servers and testing for a couple of months. That cluster is no where near capacity yet. Depending on what happens down the line I'll move it to one of my ISP's if necessary.

I will also need to know what ports needs to be opened up/mapped est... We can do that in a PM though.

The OS doesn't really matter.

I would prefer a ubuntu server distribution, but it's really to make it easier for me to connect to SSH and check every thing is all right.
The hardware needed is really not much.


I've started the master/slave support but it can take some time (a day or two). You can follow it here:

In the meantime, you can setup the server and check everything is okay connection-wise.

I'm installing Ubuntu as an openSSH server.

It's almost done, I just need to go onsite to setup a DMZ before I open this up to the net. I can unfortunately only do that tomorrow.

In the mean time, does any one know of any decent ISP's in Australia?

I think it's possible - to get one for under 100 not sure yet.

Alpharius, in regards for hosting - it looks pretty grim. I'd recommend tpg, for the right price you can get a decent upstream connection without a data cap.
