it seems the "whats new?" page using too much memory. it would be nice if we could close it after reading.

72 MB?

Well... yeah, would be nice if it could be closed. Would be even nicer if people with too little RAM didn't play FAF to slow everything down. It seems that in 8 out of every 10 games I play there is someone slowing everything down....

But on the other hand: I got my 16 GB for 90 euro's (now probably 150 new  )... I can imagine a lot of people don't really care about that 72 MB.

Are you using like 4 gb of RAM? Since I havent had any issues with anything slowing down, the work that has to be put in to make that small 72mb even less is way too much for such a small thing. Just buy a 1gb RAM stick for 10 bucks if you really mind that much.

You should play a PA game with 8 players. It used over 6 gig from my RAM.

the slowdown of the simspeed is caused by an inferior cpu. ram and gpu have nothing to do with it.

So the amount of RAM used doesn't increase with units in-game?

I somehow never really bothered to check with FAF... although I do have a 2nd (3rd really) screen for Mumble, Outlook, etc.; task manager should fit.

the amount of ram increases, of course.

i have never checked the ram usage of supcom, but like i said: the ram usage does NOT influence the (sim) speed the game runs.
the speed is only influenced (in about 98%) by the cpu. when multiple people play a game, the slowest cpu of everybody sets the speed of the game.

If you run out of RAM and use the harddrive for swapping.... CPU power doesn't really matter I would think...?
