FAF cannot boot FA {SOLVED}

So yes, everything was fine last night. Log in today and BAM can't start a game up. Can't host, can't join.

Click to host, hit to begin, FA boots up, my mouse pointer is an hourglass over a black screen. Then the hourglass is replaced by FA's pointer, the screen goes a bit lighter as the backlights turn on full, and then... nothing. Nothing at all.

All firewalls are off, and got UDP error on login a while back. Turned on uPnP last week and have played plenty of games with that on. All fine until now. Logs attached.

It gets weirder. I've been trying uninstalling and reinstalling etc and noticed an oddity. Sometimes, it just works! It has logged me into the lobby 7 times now since I wrote the thread. It has also locked me out at the black screen about a hundred times. The "Connecting" graphic simply never shows up at all.


On the successful logins, thinking I had finally solved it, I exit correctly, wait a few moments, then create another totally identical game to the one which worked. No banana. I have not managed to get it to launch two in a row.

It's probably a connection issue. (TCP, not UDP).

Most likely a firewall/antivirus/peerblock problem.

Can't even get the Chat running now. Once again, it was fine before, and now with no intermediate change (And a new update mind) It won't log into it. I still can't boot the game in successfully either. You know, except from those three random times when it DID work out of nowhere, unreplicated.

Having said that, I get right in. Still can't reliably get a game to run though. I understand the most likely issue is the port blocking problem... But can you explain why SOMETIMES it randomly works?

More and more updates from my end. I just found that booting the game OFFline via the shortcut in programdata/Faforever/bin which was nonfunctional a few days ago now WORKS AGAIN. More than that, it successfully allows me to boot into the game, uses the NEW LOBBY, and begin a game against AI. I suspect it also works for LANs.

Still cannot run games from within FAF, and have trouble connecting to the chat occasionally. UDP connection error on login makes no difference to accessing the chat.

I had an odd pattern the other day. I noticed it replicated inside the forever.log file and it makes for (For me) very interesting reading indeed. I pasted the essentials into a file, attached.

Do you have a local python installation?

Errrmmm. Not if it's something which doesn't come with windows. All I know about Python is that it's a programming language. What would a local Python installation allow me to do, and how might I go about getting one?
