Mod File Location/Removal

If using the mod vault, where do the files download to? I apparently downloaded a faulty version of a mod, but I cannot find where the mods downloaded go to. Removing it through FAforever doesn't seem to work either, as if I go to the mod all I get is a message asking if I want to remove the mod, and if I chose yes nothing seems to happen.
