Problem downloading from map vault

Postby doc_holiday » 26 Jul 2013, 00:38

Hello

First of all can I just say that I'm absolutely loving FAF, and I really do think it's an awesome thing that we can enjoy FAF!

My problem is that although I can play matches fine, I can't seem to download from the map vault. It was working fine earlier, but now all of a sudden it's saying:

"This map was not found in the vault (or is broken)"
"You need to get it from somewhere else in order to user it"

This happens both in the map vault screen and when I need to download a map in order to join a game. What can I do to solve this. Thank you so much for any help that you can give me.

Ali

The problem happens with every map. It happens either when trying to download directly from vault or when trying to join a custom game that requires a map from the vault.

Strangely though I have managed to join a custom game since then and it has successfully downloaded a map. So now I'm just more confused than ever. Maybe it's a problem connecting to the server?

I'm getting the same problem here, except I cannot download from anywhere.

Code: Select all
2013-07-26 16:02:48,434 INFO     faf.fa               Writing fa_path.lua config file.
2013-07-26 16:02:48,479 INFO     faf.fa               Updating FA for map: fredouz battle 2.v0001
2013-07-26 16:02:50,450 WARNING  faf.fa.maps          Map download or extraction failed for: http://www.faforever.com/faf/vault/maps/fredouz%20battle%202.v0001.zip
2013-07-26 16:02:50,450 WARNING  faf.fa.maps          Vault download failed with HTTPError, map probably not in vault (or broken).

These are the errors being thrown.

Now since it claims to be an Http error I've flushed my DNS, I've also reset my connection, I've made sure port 6112 is open to all traffic.

I have been playing every day for the last 5-6 days and this is literally the first time this has happened and it was the first game I played this day. No system changes on my end were made. No restarts either. The friend I was trying to play with is not having these issues.

The maps will show up with all data in the map vault list but cannot be downloaded because of the above error.

Since it appears I am not the only one with this problem I'm thinking you guys have a server or database issue.

Do you have an ETA to when I will be able to download maps again?

Thanks!

i'm having the same problem. no maps will open. I'm getting an error message that says "the map you are trying to download is not available (or is broken). you must download it from another place to use it."

It looks like the client is completely unable to download any map from the map vault.

Client side it logs this:

Code: Select all
2013-07-27 11:55:02,234 INFO     faf.fa.maps          Converted link 'maps/sludge beta v2.zip' to name 'sludge beta v2'
2013-07-27 11:55:02,269 WARNING  faf.fa.maps          Map download or extraction failed for: http://www.faforever.com/faf/vault/maps/sludge%20beta%20v2.zip
2013-07-27 11:55:02,269 WARNING  faf.fa.maps          Vault download failed with HTTPError, map probably not in vault (or broken).

However, the server never gets a http-request for this file. if I copy the link to the map to clipboard, and paste it in a webbrowser, it will give me the map without problems.

It's a 403 problem. The server refuse the request from the client because of the lack of user-agent in the header.

It's fixed in the repository, but no idea why it's happening all of a sudden.

Maybe the web-proxy changed configuration and now requires a user-agent? At least, the faf server itself doesn't seem to return any 403's
(or it logs them in a place I can't find them)

Anyway, cool that it's fixed.

Cheers,

Was indeed cloudflare security being more strict.
I've reduced it until I have enough things to justify a lobby update.
