Howdy,

I'm trying to get forged alliance (the base game is what's experiencing problems) to run on my computer, and no matter what I've tried it just keeps coming up with a fatal error. Posting on a forum is my last resort normally, as I don't like bothering people - but in this case, I have no other choice.

The error follows as such;

Essentially, the problem lies with the effects.scd file.

System Specs:
PSU - Thermaltake 750W
CPU - Intel i5 4430 quad
GPU - Gigabyte GeForce gtx 650 ti boost
Mobo - Asrock b85mpro4

Things attempted in order to try and fix it:
- Reinstall game
- Update all drivers
- Update to latest DirectX 9.0
- Update other DirectX versions as well
- Deleting game.prefs (there is no game.prefs file so this could not be done)
- Putting someone elses game.prefs file there
- Replacing the offending effects.scd file with a known working one
- Running as admin
- Running with compatibility mode for all different OS options
- Disabling all anti-virus and firewall even though that's obviously not the problem
- Bear in mind the current OS I am using is a fresh install
- Installing FA to assorted different drives instead of primary drive
- Reinstalling game another 10 times
- Sacrificing a small animal to the gods

Nothing has changed anything whatsoever. Every time it just gives the same fatal error message.
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong or how to fix it? Been itching to play FAF since I upgraded my comp a few weeks ago :(

Hey, seems this has been buried but the problem remains, and nothing is changing it.
Can anyone respond with even the teensiest idea of what's happening?

Can't say much more. Unknown error when compiling some shaders.
