Connection hangs when trying to play skirmish

Ok,

This is quite perplexing. I just reinstalled Win7 and redownloaded FA/FAF, I have no antivirus or firewall (just the windows firewall), and I can't start a private/skirmish game. When I try it just hangs at "connecting" and does not move.

I do not have peerblock
I have turned off Windows Firewall, turned it back on and set it to allow all incoming connections with FAF and FA having complete access to all ports and protocols
I have uninstalled/reinstalled both FA and FAF.
I have turned on uPNP, changed the port #

unfortunately I don't have access to the router configuration for some reason (getting connection reset when I try to connect to it). Its not mine and its in another building so there *may* be something going on there but I have been able to use it before not too long ago. I tried connecting to my phones mobile hotspot (since I was just doing a AI skirmish anyways) and had the same problem.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Weird. When I use port 12345 I just get a black screen with the cursor...no "connecting" screen...just black. If I use port 6112 or 7001 I get the connecting screen

No ideas anyone? Problem still occurs and I haven't been able to figure out why.

I've had some connection problems too. Turning off the uPnP on the router itself did the job so I guess you'll need access to it in one way or another :/

ps: you should have an anti-virus installed lol

had this issue a few times - try to delete the game.prefs file - this always solved it for me

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance (win7)

you will have to run the game and reset your key bindings if you have modified any after deleting it
