Hi everyone.
I'd like to put this post up as a warning to those that like to be on the bleeding edge with their computers. I recently installed the Windows 8.1 Preview to check out some of the upcoming changes. The update made some changes to DirectX which, I can only guess, triggered these issues.
Ever since I've installed it, Forged Alliance, through both Steam and the FAF lobby client, performs terribly. The game seems to struggle responding to user input. The game runs smoothly until you actually try and use the mouse. In game, the cursor flickers when stationary, and becomes invisible when moving it, making it very difficult to select specific units, or click on buttons, leading to a very frustrating experience. In one-on-one matches, my opponents claim to experience lag, but it may only be when I'm the host, as I played a 4-man FFA without any issues by the other team.
If anyone can recommend some free video recording software, I can make a video to better demonstrate some of the issues.
The worst part in all this, for my pioneering efforts? There's no straightforward way to uninstall the Preview update. Woe is me. Microsoft, you've turned one of my favourite games into a nigh-unplayable mess of frustration.
