sound issue

Postby FireMessiah » 09 Jun 2013, 01:49

Ive started having extremely low sound in FAF games, and unsure whats causing it. All worked well for the last several months.

I cannot tell if this is due to the recent patch, or some conflict with me recently re-installing Mumble and Skype. Both were on the same day.

All my games, replays etc accessed through the main FAF client are affected by this.
All games using FAF's offline exe (C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe) are affected by this.
(even the startup video is quiet)

However, my Steam version is working completely fine. And no other PC sound is affected.
Checked sound levels of course, from windows and ingame options, all normal.
It would appear to only be affecting patched FA.

Is there anyway for me to check any config or preference files that might be related to this and FAF? or is a full PC re-install my only option?

I find that insulting when a game is stating me the obvious ("press X to open the door" the 20th time I see a door).

uninstalled Mumble and Skype and all associated preference files. Problem remains.

I guess next step, completely uninstall FAF/FA/Steam/all.cfg files.
(trying to avoid full system format)

I find this completely puzzling as Steam FA works completely fine. So surely any Mumble/Skype issue would affect that also? unless its something to do with the way Mumble works within FAF.

Problem FIXED - full PC re-installation of windows 7, drivers, Steam, FA, and FAF.
For the time-being, im avoiding linking my FAF to Mumble again.

I wouldnt go to that extreme. I did a system restore to an earlier date before mumble was installed and it fixed it. It was your post that made me think of it though so thanks.

Avantgarde: bug reports go to you [zep] via PM?
Ze_PilOt_: no
Ze_PilOt_: never.

Ze_PilOt: FA is not about being in a comfort zone all the time.
I think the game you want to play is Starcraft 2.

Doesn't mumble have a setting that "hushes" all PC sounds except mumble if there is activity?
