What is this Crash error?

Postby nimb777 » 18 Apr 2013, 01:22

Here's a common crash I have since FAForever.

Failed to setup initial search path.
Program : C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
Cmd line arguments :
Callstack:
Unknown symbol (address 0x008cef50)
Last 100 lines of log...
warning: Running "C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\SupComDataPath.lua" failed: cannot read init_faf.lua: No such file or directory
stack traceback:
[C]: in function `dofile'
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\SupComDataPath.lua(2): in main chunk

I did not have this on GPGnet.
It happens all the time late game.
The screen units start to shake and crashes.
Any help would be appreciated.

You should use the search function :

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3294&p=33727&hilit=cannot+read+init_faf.lua%3A+No+such+file+or+directory#p33727
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2756&p=26984&hilit=cannot+read+init_faf.lua%3A+No+such+file+or+directory#p26984

Tell me if any of these topic helped you. (But first thing to check is that the file init_faf.lua exists or not in C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\).

It does have the files. I believe it is a zoom related memory overflow that would stack the ssd buffer times or updater.
BF BC2 used to always crash too. I did these fixes : added 6 gb more ddr3. I also added extra cooling. Lowered the graphic settings to mid and removed a few graphic options and it stopped crashing.
I did the same on FA. It stopped crashing, but I only played a few short games. So if it works it is either one of these fixes that did it.

It's not related to your modem.

Are the files there ?
