Connection problems 0.8.18

Just a heads up that since the 0.8.18 lobby update I am unable to connect to a majority of people. Previously when I would get a 0/nill ping to a player after a while (10sec) it would connect but the lobby would bug and say they had left the game. (going into observer and back would fix this) even with that bug I was able to connect to everyone.
Im unsure what other information is required so please advise and i will do my best.

ok, I can now connet to people but if i connect via the proxy I get huge pings to people. I was trying to join a aussie filled game and was getting +800 ping to other aussies. While before the patch If i connected via the proxy it was ~450. Nothing has changed on my end that I know of, What could be the cause of this if nothing changed on the faf end.

Hey gents (particularly Zep), I and others have been having some issues since the most recent patch. It seems to have caused some issues that were fixed in the previous versions - specifically, it's not auto-routing connections as it was before.

When I first started playing FAF (about a month ago, I'm new) my friend had a lot of issues connecting to people, despite forwarding ports and everything. This was then fixed.
The issue now isn't that people aren't connecting (causing yellow pings). It's that they are connecting, but it's being routed through somewhere in europe (I believe).

The exact issue:
Game starts, people join
Two people get a yellow ping
After a couple of seconds, they connect with a ~800 ping. This is consistent with what we AU players would get if the packets were going from AU>EU>AU>EU>AU, so going via Europe.

Nothing changed since the proxy is in place. Seems that you are using it because your router failed to connect directly to them.

Ok, nothing has changed. Except that it used to work and now that it doesnt why would this be? What should I look at 'fixing'?

Fix your router (check wiki) so you don't use the proxy server.

I'm must say that I'm only speculating here, you did not provide any log.

I find it interesting that while before it was just helping to establish the connection, now the connection is actually going via the other side of the world?

No, it's a proxy, it connect to the proxy server, in europe. That did not changed for months.
