playing skirmishes on local pc

I am kind of new to FAF and since I installed the lobby I have been unable to play on my local pc just skirmishes. I am unable to select a map or fill the player slots with AI's. Anybody know why that is?

I believe I know what the issue is, and I don't think FA creates logs running from a retail install. Refer to viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3657. Launch FAF and attempt to make a game lobby. It will download a file called FAForever.faf. This file contains the changes the post refers to.

After you set the changes in that post, you'll want to go to C:\Users\<Your UserName>\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance and open up the Game.prefs file in notepad. You'll see a line

LastColor =,

change it to

Code: Select all

LastColor = 1,

That should fix the problems.

As you can see, Vicarian is one of our resident mind readers. I was able to duplicate the symptoms you decribed by duplicating the "LastColor" problem. Even easier fix though...Just change your color in the skirmish lobby to something else, then change it back. If that (and/or changing the prefs file) doesn't work, there may be something else wrong.

You are correct, standard FA does not create a log file by default. However, it can be made to do so with the addition of a simple command line switch (/log "C:\YourPathHere\game.log").

Program Data\FAForever\bin then click on the forged alliance.exe. which will load the game like the non faf version, then go to skirmishes (it should have game is not ranked in red above or below were the map is). not sure if you can lan with it though and from what I can see however you cant play the supported mods, only the ones you already have installed
