Problem Updating FAF

Postby Demwaffle » 12 Apr 2013, 03:29

Well, when I try to update to the latest version (0.8.17) the update stops downloading in the FAF exe at around 60%-80% and displays an error message "TCP error connection, remote host has terminated connection" then continues to download the file, when it finishes the installer starts, then stops saying it cannot find a file "tmpevbiqi.msi" and will not continue till I either point the installer to where the file is or cancel. This also happens when i try to uninstall, install over my current or any other form of install. I have downloaded the file from the main site, but it will also give me the same error when trying to install. Please help, me and my friends can only play this way since his Steam version will not launch.

You have to download it correctly. Can't help you with that.

How am I not downloading it correctly? It should pretty hard to download it incorrectly if I launch the FAF.exe and click yes when it asks me to update right?

If you can't download it from the website, I can't do anything for you, there is really nothing special about it.

Any problem during the installation is a MSI problem, not a FAF problem, you will have to search around the forum or google, but I have no control over it either, it's a standard MSI package.

It's not that I can't download it, it's that it won't install due to the lack of the tmpevbiqi.msi file, I understand that you don't have control over it but could you look for that file on your hard drive? The installer points me to
c:\users\*username here*\appdata\local\temp\ and then I am also given the choice to browse for its location. My friend apparently also doesn't have this file yet his works fine.

I'm pretty sure it's how your browser call the installer file because you used "run" instead of "save as".

Do you mean what my browser names the file? No it shows the file as FAForeverLobby-0.8.17... The problem itself is IN the installer... it is searching for a file that is not there, the file tmpevbiqi.msi.
