FAF doesn't seem to be working

Try to join a game, eventually when FA starts, I just get a black screen :/

The hard drive was under heavy fragmentation for the last few months, making the whole server running slower every day.

Rienzilla is currently running a maintenance procedure, but that amplify the problem until it's over.

The result is high random writing times.
The database is written all the time, meaning that processes that need to read it have to wait that the process writing it are done before continuing, resulting in high "lag" in the website and the lobby.

For your black screen, if you wait long enough, you will join the game eventually, as no process is really skipped internally (just delayed because of the low write performances).

Maybe, maybe not. The lobby has a timeout mechanism in order to "drop it" if it can't connect to avoid hammering a over-loaded server.

So if take long, it's before that (because after, you are logged), so it can be the mumble link that try to connect for about 7 seconds to an nonexistent mumble.

But it CAN eventually be the server. I'm not really sure.

Right now, it's copying the half-millions replays on the second disk, set to be less "fragmented" (it's not exactly that, but let's keep it simple).

Tomorrow, we reboot on that second "clean" disk, and resync the raid back to the first disk, and the problem should be solved.

if its mysql+innodb, you may want to check out: innodb-flush-log-at-trx-commit=2
