Game never zooms in at beginning / UI Failure?

In an attempt to figure out where I am failing, I guess I'll be posting here.

Attachment is a replay of what happened. I haven't watched it (since I don't know how to do so), so it's whatever the reply has.

The game, as starting up, loads the map, shows the highest point of strategic zoom, and only shows the time (which remains at 0 seconds), the unit count (which remains 0), and the energy / mass (which the energy starts off not maxed. Eh?)

The game never zooms in and never selects anything.
The mouse does not even exist unless I alt-F4.
The console button, be it ` or ', do not do anything.
I have tested this against the AI. They have no problems moving about.
I have tested this in vanilla FA using FAF with all mods disabled. Same issue.
I cannot recreate this issue if I'm running FA without FAF. It simply doesn't happen.

This issue was reported here before (the only one I could find), being here:

As it looks like a mod issue, and I can't find any mods running, I don't know if it can be used as a reference.

You have something related to sorian AI and enhanced lobby somewhere.
That's probably the cause of it.
I don't see what file in the logs, so it's probable that you've altered your FA installation.

While a mod problem was probable, it was in fact a error in the game.prefs file.
Problem fixed.
