Connection issues

Postby Wolfy » 21 Mar 2013, 11:23

Takes a few tries for the FAF client to connect to the servers
-What's new tab stays blank for quite a while before loading
-irc often wont connect
-when I do get in and I join game, I have no ready tick box and other players are often invisible (showing only a red bar underneath where the ping is, no username or even ping number)

in cmd i have no problem pinging faforever.com

I have uPnP turned on and I can't find the option to turn it off (call me stupid, but I just can't seem to spot it)

Port: 6112 has been forwarded for both outbound and inbound services.

Error log and router security screenshot (just in case I've done something wrong) are both attached to this post.

Thank's for any help :)

That's a firewall entry, not a routing table.
It's just allowing packets to go through if the inbound port is 6112 and the local port is 65535.

uPnP probably won't set that local port (it's pretty random in most routers).

And if it was, you have to enter your PC ip and use the same port i FAF (in this case, 65535).

Sorry but I don't really understand, I haven't done much with networking, routers & firewalls.
would I enter my PC ip in the "WAN users" section or "send to LAN server?"

Won't make a difference, you are not in the right section.
Firewall stop or allow packets to go through.

What you want is tell your packets to go from one point to another (can be in "routing", "port forwarding" or "Network Address Translation/NAT" section of your router.

Seems like a lobby glitch in this case. Maybe a broken map ?

This is all I can find on my router,
if this is it, already done it

However all posts I can find online about port forwarding seem to use those screens to create a service to allow through the firewall

6112 is forwarded to 6112.
Meaning that your firewall entry is incorrect (it's for packets from 6112 routed to 65535).

Also, the destination IP (your computer IP, probably something like 192.168.x.x) is not present, so there is no way your router know where to sent these packets.

And finally, for some reason, some routers doesn't like port 6112 at all. You can try 7001 for example if it doesn't work.

Changed it so 6112 is now forwarded to 65535,

Where do I put my destination IP? I can't see anywhere to enter it

P.S. Apologies for being such a bother
