Specify Forged Alliance Folder

Hi all,

I just installed the FAF lobby
I have the Steam Version of FA installed
When I try to launch a game it comes up with a window saying FAF install wizard, and "Specify Forged Alliance folder"

I'm prompted to choose my installation and select the folder where my game is, only when I navigate to that folder there, it doesnt show any files and wont let me "finish"


Am I doing something wrong?

Can you start the game outside of FAF?
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\bin

Yes I can launch the game through steam, or by clicking the app launch icon in the directory above in the picture

Yes you do. Read what he asked you (it doesn't ask for a file but a folder, look carefully what folder. Hint : It's not the bin folder).

can you please rewrite the text in box to make it idiot-proof?

in the box it says "choose the installation you wish to use". this is not clear. "choose the installtion directory you wish to use" would be clear. "choose the installtion directory you wish to use (by default the "Supreme Commander Forged Alliance" folder and NOT the \bin folder)" would be very clear.


i had to install supcom about a dozen times, before i noticed to choose the installation folder and NOT the bin folder...

i always tried to choose the exe file (which was of course not possible).

the "installation", can be your computer, your hard drive, your games folder, your install folder, your bin folder or your exe file. it can be anything, which separates the installation you want faf to use from another installation faf is not allowed to use. this is definitely NOT clear.

Well it's not like there is a thousand things to try, and it's the second time in a year someone is unable to find the correct solution. So I think it's okay. I'm not for dumbing down everything.
