Can't join game

I was having crashes with dual monitor, so I changed to windowed mode to see if I could get dual screen to work that way (using the home key).

This worked OK when testing in FA (not using FAF), but I couldn't join a game via FAF then.

So, I reverted to the old setup and now can't join a game in dual/single screen mode (non-windowed).

Basically, I don't get the connecting... screen appearing. No error message.

Note: I have also tried deleting the game.prefs file and this made no difference, i.e. FA launches fine stand alone (with all defaults via this file), but won't launch from FAF.

Correction, title should be: I can't get into FAF lobby (when attempting to host or join a game).

I have uninstalled both FA and FAF and the problem persists. I can play FA standalone.

What's the procedure for a full uninstall of FA?

No need if your original install works.

Try disabling your firewall, anti virus and windows aero.

If it doesn't work, post game.log (check the "how to report errors" thread.

I disabled AVG and firewall and disabled windows aero. Problem persists.

There is no game.log
There is a replay.log and uid.log (in addition to the forever.log posted above).

Update:
When I attempt to join a game, the attempt is registered in the game lobby (i.e. the host & players there can see it), it just doesn't complete.

Then you should have a game.log.
Re-read viewtopic.php?f=3&t=192 carefully.

Hi Zep, I have read that post several times.

Logs are set in FAF (options->settings->save game logs is checked).

forever.log is present, no game.log is present.

If people see you trying to join, it means that your FA was launched. Can you confirm that by checking the process ?
