Replays wont save locally or in vault

Postby callous » 18 Feb 2013, 18:42

I've tried reinstalling my OS, and reinstalling FA and FAF but still my replays wont save. I have confirmed it isnt saving to the hdd at all either in documents subfolder or programdata subfolders.

I am out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Here is my faforever.log:

No idea why the replay is not saved locally.

But on the vault, I have an explanation : There is a bottleneck in the logs.
That means that a player got connection problem. So he may have disconnected badly from the livereplay server. (check TCP keepalive on google).

So what can happen is that the server did not get the disconnect, and still thing the player is there. The replay is written in the vault only when all players have left.

There is a fail-safe in the livereplay that will force the replay to be written after 8 hours no matter what.

ok thanks for trying pilot!

I guess I'll have to live with no replays. This is happening on my regular ISP connection and through a VPN so I dont know if something's wrong with the connection as it happens for every single game so far.

Yes, going through so many filter can cause these problems. But I don't see why they should not be saved locally. That sounds more like a writing permission problem.

Is the whole programdata folder supposed to be "Read-only" and "hidden"? That's what's checked off for properties in Windows 7

Yes.

But not entirely read only.
The security on these folder is quite special and shouldn't be touched, but Users should be able to read & excute and list folder contents. Not write.

Only admins AND system should be able to do everything. System is the most important, it's how the lobby is lobby is able to write in it.

Also, never run the lobby as admin, as you will change these permissions and you won't be able to write as user anymore. (but again, user should NOT be able to write. Only system).

Necro time. I'm having this issue since I purged and reinstalled FAF and FA. My replays are appearing in the vault, so I'm downloading them, but my replay folder isn't being updated. When I manually move these downloads to my replay folder FAF says they're broken and unwatchable but they work when I click on them.

I backed up my old replay folder when I purged/reinstalled and I must have used a move/replace with the old folder, so I suspect FAF thinks there's now no replay folder when it looks to save the replays, but knows there's replays there when it tries to play them. That sounds a bit weird though so it might not be that. Halp?

EDIT: I also can't watch live replays any more. This might be linked?
