faf not keeping settings

hey guys,
finally i got a new pc. all seems to work fine so far except one little thing:
it seems like whatever setting i change from the default settings is not beeing remembered
by fa or faf or whatever. for example if im trying to save a template nothing happens. when
i change the resolution in the game it stays until the game is over but when i play a second one after
its set back to default. same for game settings no matter if i change victory condition or
random spawn to fixed spawn its not remembered when i start a new one.
so what am i missing? any ideas how to fix that would be appreciated.

Ok. This happens when you try to play FAF without setting up FA first (or if you delete the game.prefs file).

Open GPGNet and start FA. Create a new profile and change your resolution etc in the settings. Save the settings and exit.

Start FAF and everything should be working correctly.
