Core Optimization Programs

Postby Flynn » 20 Jan 2013, 13:40

I found two processor core optimization programs for SupCom:

The question is, which one to use?

Feel free to merge this thread with my other thread. I read from multiple sources that SupCom was optimized for multiple cores, is this not true?

only for minor things. The sim is not multithreading and take most of the ressources.

look in old threads here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1750
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1209

in short: when you use a modern processor this tool only improves your fps, but slows down your simspeed.

for newbies: when you have turned down your graphics options all the way and everything starts to stutter (it will always go slower, but here it is important that it actually runs with e.g. 2-15 fps) in big fights in skirmish games played on your computer against the ai, then use this programm to make the game run (a little more) fluid/smooth. when you use windows xp or lower and an old processor (pre i3/i5/i7 or similar), then use this programm. in all other cases do not use it !!!

I have Windows 7 with a T4300 CPU @ 2.1Ghz. Would this program benefit me? I think the I series were out when I bought my system so I don't know whether the T series is parallel to the I series or older.

test it.

open a map and let 2 sorian ai play against each other and observe the max simspeed. observe whether you see any stuttering and note what (ingame) time gets displayed after exactly 30 minutes real time. do this with and without core maximizer a couple of times.

you can also cheat (alt+f2), create 500 asf for you and your opponent and attack. watch the simspeed and your fps...
