problem with reinstalling FA

hi there !

my name is laurent, I live in southern france.

I quitted playing supcom/FA when supcom 2 came out (such a disapointment imho), but this game kept a very special place both in my mind and my heart.

I went on the few forums I used to know, but then was afraid to see that no one was there anymore

that's why I'm so glad I found you guys, I first want to thank you forr keeping the community alive and bringing that FAF thing to life !!

hence I decided to reinstall FA on my pc... except that I can't manage to patch the game properly.

first, my inbox version gets installed ok. then I try to apply the 3596 -> 3599 patch, but then the game won't run anymore, nothing happens.

I have xp on my pc.... can anyone help me ?

Some more information? You double-click the exe and nothing happens/runs? Is it in your active processes list?

would not have been the first time for the patch-installation: so the first steps if a programm not works after patching are:

trying the patch again
reinstalling the programm

@ColonelSheppard: I've already tried to reinstall 3 times, with no succes...

@ZaphodX: well, when I double-click whether on the desktop icon or the .exe in the program files, nothing happens...

so I've downloaded both supcom/FA from steam with my FA key, installed both... supcom works fine now, but once again, when I try to launch FA, nothing happens... even launching from steam

I've downloaded and reinstalled FA twice, but still it's the same: I hear the hdd running for 2 seconds, and then... nothing !

The game does not appear in the XP running processes... I've cleaned each and every thq file I could, used ccleaner for the registry...

well, any help would be appreciated

A first step would be to stop using a twelve year old OS. (it's older than kids using win7).

well yes, maybe that would solve the problem... but how come FA used to work perfectly with win XP before, and now, it doesn't ?

No idea, it's probably not related. But updating to an OS that can handle today hardware is not a bad idea by itself
