Help with Patch/CD Key

So i bought FA a couple years back while on vacation with my family when GPG was still up. However i had registered the game on my aunts computer being totally new to computers i didn't really see the harm. However now I cant find my old CD key or the disk. I thus torrented the game, however the FAF client won't let me run the game i downloaded because it is an outdated version. I tried using the manual patch however it kept giving me an error saying it couldn't find my ForgedAlliance.exe even when i browsed for the direct tree. My last option is to register my CD key on Steam. I guess what my real question is whether or not i can recover my old CD key or if there's any way for me to actually play this, thanks!

you can try to look in regedit on one of the comps you installed the game from the cd

Open Start -> Run and enter "regedit". Browse to this location: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\wow6432Node\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance


DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING in the regedit!!!!!!
