Can't Play Vanilla FA?

I can't seem to find any way to play the vanilla version of FA without the FAF balance changes. I just play with my friends, so I don't much care about the balance issues in the original. Is there really no way to play it? We want to be able to play with a friend who doesn't have the steam version, but we really don't want any changes.

You can play on Steam. If your friend owns the game, he can activate his code in steam. A Supcom code also gives acces to FA. If he pirated the game, he can buy it for a cheap price and use steam.
