Best Processor To Use

Postby Night_Nuke » 22 Sep 2012, 04:09

I am planning on upgrading my intel i3 at 2.77 but i keep coming up on 1 thing.....
What will give me the best performance for this game?
I have a intel i5 2500k and a AMD FX 8150 priced but i would like to know what will run better.
The intel is at 3.5 The amd is at 3.6
The intel is quad core, and the amd is 8 core.

NOTE: I want to be able to play large setons games and big 4v4s. I already have mobos and powers supply etc priced for both.
Just want expert advice on what to get.

as FA uses mainly only one processor, it would be best to buy a quad core with maximum frequency. The more GHz the better.

i got the intel i5 2500 and it's pretty fine

dunno much about AMD prossersors but everytime i compared one to an intel one of the same price, i came to the conclusion that intel is better (this might be a bit personal opinion)

however kryo is right: for SupCom i guess the intel one would most likely be better (but in most cases you wont notice that difference cause somebody has a slower one  )

If Overclocking heavily - AMD Bulldozer Quad-Core

If not Overclocking - Whatever i-x processor you can afford.

If a sensible person - Wait a few weeks to find out how AMD's Piledriver turns out.

What about using core maximizer with a multicore processor?

No program can turn another program into a multi-threaded code.

Core maximizer does nothing. Really.
It might be true that he was doing a little in windows XP, where sending program threads in different cores was new and not very widespread, but it was 11 years from now.

Windows Vista and Seven manage threading and multi-cpu/core way better, CPU themselves do some stuff better (Hyperthreading, turbo cache and such),...
You don't need to set any core affinity or stuff like that anymore, and core maximizer is doing nothing more than that.
(ie. http://itexpertvoice.com/home/multi-cor ... windows-7/)

And if you are still using XP, think of upgrading to seven instead of using Core Maximizer, you are using an outdated, now unsupported, 11 years old OS.
(would you really use any 11 years old PC ? Why would you do that with an OS ?)

Yes the i5 2500k is designed with oc in mind.

I haven't oc'ed mine because I have yet to be the slowest link, so no need.
