I have a couple of thoughts:

You should either randomise or place the seeding yourself for the qualifiers - people can see who is signed up and avoid them in prelims by waiting or maybe they won't sign up at all because their bracket is (3x2200 player)
Also the actual tournament might be a little lackluster if the best players knock each other out in said qualifiers
1400 global is a very low restriction, and since this is a 1v1 tournament there should be some 1v1 restriction as well maybe?

First of all thanks for hosting a competitive 1v1 tourny !!!

About seeds: the way you've written it group A will be the group of death and each consecutive group will be weaker with group H being comparatively extremely weak.

Qualifier format: With round robin it's likely that there will be matches which don't matter for one player (which means there will be drama, forfeits and looots of unplayed matches). I recommend switching to dual tournament format: https://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Dual_Tournament_Format

I will take a closer look at how to fairly divide players up in to there groups.

With this being a 1v1 Tournament I should have include a 1v1 rating for player who play 1v1 more than global. to do this I’ve change it to 1500 global or Ladder Score is required

Your most welcome it been a while since I’ve seen a Actually high tier competitive tournament

As I’ve just said to Gorton I’m going to re look at how i structure the Groups. I want to Use seed as base as may look to using the seed a the number and have rand.org decide whom goes in to each group but i shall take a look at the best way to this over this weekend.

So if I’m understanding this correctly instead of using round robin go for Double elimination for the Groups ? Something like this

It seems unnecessary to invite 1400s. There's no way anyone less than 1900 becomes the "grandmaster" unless they have a smurf account.

We already have a 1v1 ladder for people to show that they belong at the top.

So having a crowded qualification round doesn't seem like it will accomplish anything other than being a lot of work for a lot of people, especially with no prize money. Some top players might not be willing to schedule 5-8 games against 1400-1700s, just for the right to participate in a tournament with no prize money.

Maybe you could seed people in to the Competitive Round if they have a ladder score over 1.9k. (That's only 36 people and not all of them are active so you could still have a decent-size qualification field for people who want to try, and that would still yield quite a few games to cast.) Also, perhaps award icons to the top 3 people who were NOT seeded in, as a way to encourage participation in that aspect of the tournament. I think "you will play against speed2 for the chance to get an avatar and participate in the competitive round" is more enticing to a 1700-rated player than "you will play against Farms and Blackheart for the chance to get into the competitive round oops you didn't get in"

Also, if someone has 1500 global but not 1400 ladder points, why let them participate? Playing on the ladder isn't just about showing how big your skill is. it is also about contributing to the community by giving people games to play. Compared to Mr. 1500 Dual Gap, someone who shows up 10-20 times a month and maintains a ladder rating of 1700 is not just more likely to win, they are far more deserving to participate at all.

I know it sounds super boring and it will have very predictable results, but imo each group (of 4?) should have 2 high rated and 2 low rated players. This way the better players actually end up in the main tournament, instead of some 1500 ladder player beating 3 other 1500 ladder players and then getting crushed by the others in the main tournament.
so it'd work like this: the two highest with the two lowest in one group, then the next group will have 3rd, 4th highest + 3rd, 4th lowest.
this way the very best players are very likely to enter, and also gives some 1800s the chance to enter (because some groups will consist of purely 1800-1900)

I would suggest a Bo3 format for the qualification stage. Bo1 with one of the players being allowed to pick the map is pretty unfair and random. One map picked by each player and the third both have to agree on or if that doesnt happen a third party picks it, TD for example.

dont think you need bo3 for qualifiers since the differences in player skill will be very drastic
