Why is asymmetry frowned upon so heavily?

Feel free to create an asymmetrical map if it can otherwise fit the restrictions.

They however take about 90% longer to create, and have an extremely high chance of being disregarded entirely by the playerbase (and also DQ'd from here) If it is thought to hold an intentional imbalance. 5km is a hornets nest of issues waiting to be prodded when it comes to weapon ranges and the like, do think wisely before submitting an asymmetrical map for competition.

It's called a challenge, and challenging maps can be competitive.

Your offer is generous, however, if it is asymmetrical it inherently holds one or more intentional imbalances towards one or more positions / factions, thus it will likely be DQs due to containing them, thus little point in making an asymmetrical map for this tournament.
The player base decides and it's no secret that they prefer symmetry.

I'm okay with tournament related discussion but if people come here to discuss mapping related topics in here at random I will ask for the thread to be tidied up. Make a new topic or locate a relevant one, if you can.

I made a 5x5 map for this tourney it's called Marrock's Desert, I've spent like 4 hours trying to upload it and I am now giving up, if anyone else can get it to upload correctly you can have it as your entry. It is on the vault but it doing the four corners bullshit, I cba to sort it out, I just want it on there properly.

If you have problems you should go to the mapping discord, but Im pretty sure the four corners issue relates to something with numbers in the file name you are uploading.

Freedom, most common problem is adding the line "map_version = 1," to your scenario file. If that is not it, message me or someone in the m&m channel and we can take a look at the syntax.
