That concept works anywhere as long as there is someone to control it's application. Same as we didn't know if our bo11 will be a long series or will end in 6 games. But it's not really harder to control than blind picks (which would have a lot more mirror matchups).

I have no idea what this means, but I don't see any problems with faction picking and shuffling in the lobby except that it usually ends up in a mirror faction matchup. Which in itself is already a hugely imposed issue and I'd rather not see any brutal faction rules to restrict players.
SPEAKING OF RESTRICTIONS, I almost forgot.
A personal rant to tokyto
The map picking system was just plain garbage
I mean, seriouly? Not only that this just got me a pool that was hugely favouring zock but in a finals of the biggest tournament of this year you decide to prioritize caster rights over player rights, as BH would say that's diseased.
Then the "Alternatively, if both players agree, a map doesn't have to be in the list." is in place for a show-off apparently. And while something like crazyrush should be agreed on by both players, being blocked from picking goddamn sentons which is a classic and totally normal 20x20 is just an abuse, there is no way around it.
