Map testing day

Postby CookieNoob » 08 Nov 2016, 18:50

due to the amazing feedback here and on the client I decided not to host this. I am reconsidering if I really host a tourney on these maps at the end of the year, too. Organizing a tourney like the last one is a huge amount of work (much more than a normal tourney). The maps will get uploaded under the new naming scheme anyway (these wont get updated) so if you see any problems with the latest version of the ultimate maps, better tell me or the bug will stay.

So to encourage testing I decided to host a "Map testing day"

*BE AMAZED BY THIS STUNNING POSTER*(coming soon)

It works like this:
play a game on a map from the list below (it doesnt matter it its a teamgame, 1v1, sandbox or whatever) and if you find an issue with the map (hovering trees, broken mass extractors, broken hydros, hills that are passable, trees that are aligned in a grid, not working options, wrong text on the options, spelling errors, spawn points ordered wrong...)
post it in the tourney chat or pm me (CookieNoob). An issue cant be posted twice, so if someone was faster, you dont get a point. The player with the most points wins. If there are multiple ppl tied in score, they play a nice murderparty FFA game ;) for the avatar.

Make this 2v2 and I'm in. It's been forever since a good 2v2 has been held with all the focus on this legend of stars thing

haha Morax, I will host some 2v2 and 3v3 tourney in the future, yes :D but this one is for finding the bugs on the ultimate maps in their final state before releasing them under the new naming scheme ;) Thus I need as many players testing as possible and a single or double elimination format doesnt fit that purpose good enough

for someone who wants to be player councilor you are pretty negative when it comes to making some events... this one is to improve the quality of the maps in the vault (what would be bad about that? These maps are nearly finished, so there are almost no remaining bugs). This is also a good oportunity for lower rated players to get an avatar, this might even encourage some players to play a different map. And no: I dont think I can find all bugs myself. Since replays of maps which have a lower version in the vault do not appear in the replay vault, I dont want to reupload a new version when it is somehow avoidable.

I find your instant attempts to derail pc voters on the event of counter-opinions very rude and also very boring.

From a purely mapping standpoint: testing your maps is one of the most important parts of mapping in general,
If mapping like this was "paid" work, creating a competition under the guise of getting people to create "free" work for you scams other mappers/players and would be frowned upon rather heavily.

That said, do what you want, just don't stone-wall when someone doesn't approve; It's not professional.

Yes it looks grainy as f*** and actually repulsive.
Could maybe reduce albedo on rock and one of those green textures by... a lot.
