Video Editing

Postby Flexable » 04 May 2015, 10:50

Hi,

didn't easily find such a topic, so I do one. I'm a n00b, generally speaking, but even more when it comes to making video. So I'll looking for straight-forward help to be able to do the best looking video:

1) How to remove all the UI (even the little arrow to show/hide the various menus)
2) How to remove the chat (so that it doesn't screw a nice looking action)
3) How to remove the game messages (ie an ACU explodes and you don't want to see the 'player X has been defeated')
4) I'm lost with the tracking system, can someone explain again how to track a unit without having the description of that unit displayed?
a) What are the keys to move the camera freely in 3D?
5) How to do smooth camera movement? Any possibility to program a camera movement?

Thanks.

There's a ren_UI command in the command console. But if you use it, it's very hard to get the UI back, because you have to know whether the console is on or not. If it is on, it's simply pressing the up arrow and pressing enter (I think).

If it's not on, you have to press ` and do the same, but it's impossible to see if you've got the console on or not, because the UI is off :)

1) Use FRAPS this program makes the UI disapear I think
2) Free camera = Ctrl V
3) Tracking is "T" I think and then deselect the unit with "Esc" the camera will still follow it.

FRAPS wont remove the SC UI. It records what you see while recording if I am not mistaken (only exception is the framerate if I remember correctly).

Shadowplay is fine for capturing my screen, and better than FRAPS imho, but I need to remove all the UI things.

All you need to do is retract everything and then crop down the image 2% on all sides with an editing tool and you will be rid of 100% of UI. You can make the chat box really small and move it to the top or bottom and cut out an extra percent on that side, and you will never see it.

With some creative sizing and positioning, it looks exactly like the normal screen with no UI elements. No reason to not use shadowplay for this. To my knowledge no screen recording software exists that can separate the UI from the game.

*Edit - Also, if you are doing this for casting or any kind of game commentary or a showcase, half of SupCom is the numbers, so you will receive many complaints about the missing UI.

hey,

why not make a hotkey to call HideGameUI(state) in gamemain.lua have or create a funciton to set the opposite of the global var gameUIHidden which is also in gamemain.lua infact i think there is already a hotkey for this (cba looking right now lol)

you can also if your into scripting, create some cool camera angles using hotkeys to call funcitons in usercamera.lua, i done some in DMS whereby you can rotate round units bring in the black bars top and bottom (movie mode) have the camera follow a path, unit death cam, perch cam where cam view sits on the back of the units a distance back and rotates with the unit and is not static follow. You can also manipulate the camera from worldview.lua to do some pretty neat custom views also in dms i added this, so you can split the screen into 6 views.

here is a quick video of 4 views in early stage of the mod, i now changed it to 4 down the side and one big one centre left of right, and also horizontal split and well as the vertical split.

thats pretty awesome huh.

also i use OSB (Open Broadcast Software) to create my recent videos, you can do some pretty sweet things with this software.. its also free...
