Request/petition: UPnP changed to on by default in client

Postby LordXenos » 13 Apr 2015, 15:31

Pretty much the title. UPnP == "On" seems to solve some connection issues. People who always proxy to each other seem to be far more likely to get direct connections (therefore less lag) with it on. I talked to Sheeo in chat and he didn't seem opposed to the idea, and since there's no drawback that I know of why not have it on by default?

I don't suppose anyone is opposed to it. I've spawned off a github issue for this here

What is the behaviour of this if FAF is behind a router that has not got UPNP support or has UPNP disabled.

I personally would not use UPNP due to the security issues but provided it would not cause issues for those that dont have UPNP on their router I cant see this being a bad thing. For people that find the ease of UPNP outweighs the security issues or people that are not technically minded and have not setup port forwards this could be a win win.
