Gradient death damage

Postby Crotalus » 26 Jan 2015, 14:24

At the moment experimentals deal out constant damage at death, even if you're at the outer edge of the damage radius. Also, the colossus for instance deals out it's damage from it's feets after it's down on the ground.

I've submitted a change where the damage instead is gradient and also comes from where the actual bones hit something, for instance, the knees of the colossus deal some of the damage, the torso when it hits the ground etc.

Best would be to show it with a video but my gfx card is broken. Some images here (first image is old behavior, second new)

(Note: The actual damage dealt isn't balanced yet so probably less now in total compared to before)

Any input on this proposed change?

Great work on this.

Certainly your implementation is much more sophisticated than the old aoe. Clearly it'll be a nerf to czar death bomb, which I'm fine with.

Have you tried different orientations of fall to see if it bugs etc? I assume it is calculated so it shouldn't.

Overall big thumbs up from me

Attack-Move not working on Solace should be fixed this patch. I've also totally re-worked how all Torpedo bombers aim and drop their torpedoes and normalised them to all behave the same. The point of this situation was to get a base point from which the balance team can decide how they want each one to behave, and we can properly control it in whichever direction. This change probably won't be in the next patch because it's a balance debate change, so it will be the one after.

Unless people want to test a game where the bombers all drop properly and the Aeon/Sera don't miss in shallow water, of course...
