Engineer attack move, what's going on?

Postby Neutrino » 11 Jan 2015, 15:17

Engineer attack move is no longer reclaiming anything, this occurs irrespective of whether you create an attack move route for a specific engineer or if you set up an attack move route from a factory.

Why is this?

I restarted FAF and now it's working again. That's odd. Thinking about it I've seen this happen a couple of times now, reclaim just stops working for some reason, but then is working again when I restart.

Anyone else seen this?

Engineers on attackmove will stop reclaiming when your storage is full.

Unfortunately they will not restart once you're lacking resources again.

Thanks Sheeo, that's exactly what was happening.

That would be a really nice bug to be able to fix.

Is it still planned to make roaming engies not auto assist mexes that are paused btw? This is so incredibly annoying.

you mean patrol or attack move? I am for attack move or both :)

btw. engis doing also repairing, assisting factories and mexes(not paused), pls remove this too

btw2. my idea:
attack move/patrol - only reclaim
repair patrol - only repair - would work same way like patrol button,, but by using assist button
assist patrol - only assisting - would work same way like patrol button, but by using assist button

Long run I want to look at implementing a toggle cycle similar to the fire-states button for this. Attack-Move will work exactly as it does right now, and should be used accordingly. Patrol will have a cycle of 'All, Reclaim, Repair, Assist' so you can toggle behaviour on the fly. In my head, we also adjust the patrol function so that it will reclaim at full manual speed automatically, leaving no real reason to use Attack-Move for Engineers, as using it makes very little sense just going by the name :p

I have noticed this too, the reclaim problem and also assisting mexes. Like you will have engineers assisting three different mexes and crashing you're eco and it is hard to see why until you see the little shits all assisting a different mex :x In theory it's a nice idea but there is no way the AI could judge what state you're economy is in and react accordingly, so it should just be removed from the AI behaviour.

attack move is better, when engi reclaim all mass on his path he will be idle so I can se he is idle and give him another task, with patrol he just circling

you can rename it to reclaim move :)
