Air Micro Lessons

Postby Flamingo » 08 Jan 2015, 06:25

Is there any good resource to learn how to manage good ASF micro? I was looking into it, but all I could find was a video overview of the subject and a replay of micro practice uploaded to Youtube.

Also, is it worth the effort to micro interceptors since they're slower? I've been trying to teach myself how to do this, and I've had one or two successful tries, but it feels like if I botch the micro, I actually make things worse than if I didn't try to micro at all. There appears to be a minimum proficiency with which the AI will micro the planes naturally, so if I micro and my foe doesn't, I appear to run a risk of accidentally getting my entire squad ahead of the enemy planes instead of behind them.

Micro is always worth it, but it takes some practice to learn although not too much. When I decided to learn this it took me about 4h of practice with good player to go from horrible to pretty good. Just get a friend or host a game called airmicro practice, enable cheats and spawn asf. Start with small groups and work your way up. I suggest 25, 50, 100, 200 as numbers to play around with. Also if your stuff is getting ahead just press stop :P Some tricks beside standard turn-as-tight-as-you-can are stop, change direction, split into 2 control groups. After a while you will see a huuuuge difference between how your planes perform now and used to perform

Edit: If you wanna learn faster, use cybran asf or less than your practice partner, playing from harder condition makes your play better in the long term, you can pm me if you see me online and wanna practice.

I've seen asf or intie micro win a game many times, so yes it's worth it. If you ask in aeolus there will probably be people willing to practice asf micro with you.
