transfering hives - perfect way to kill your teammates

When transferring engies to an ally, they are received in an idle state. This is not the case with hives. When someone doesn't notice that a hive has been handed over, he's pretty much screwed economically.

I'd say that this is an exploit and should be fixed in a patch - this should behave just like engies or UEF drones.

Well in most cases u shouldnt build hives anyway. Typically the kind of unit that should be disabled in noob games.

Given the recent changes to engineers and factories do you think hives are something that should have cost reduced so they are not entirely useless anymore? I am not saying make then a better option than t3 engineers just somewhat usefull.

Hives are already more efficient than cybran t3 engineers: 14 mass per build power vs 14.67 mass per buildpower. T1 engineers are 10.4 mass per buildpower, so neither cybran t3 engineers nor hives can compete with that in raw mass per buildpower, but hives and t3 engineers are much more convenient.

Hives can be good for RAS sacu spam, since quantum gates cost 25 mass per build power, and using t1 engies leads to lots of pathfinding problems. Other than that, well, hives are not super bad but usually not good either. For t3 land spam they are a decent alternative to support factories, since t3 land support factories are not very efficient.

Yeah i would argue after a certian number and not even too high t3 engineers are more efficient per mass anyway due to no bumping. That said the numbers aint bad and hives are not as inefficient as i thought. Still not something most people would use but i also dont think they need buffing further.

BTW, it would be nice if hives (& the ground assist command) did not assist nukes or nuke defence by default. It's annoying that if you have hives or engies on ground assist near a couple of factories, that they decide to spend several minutes to assist a nuke defence...

No bumping, zero start-up time when you want something else assisted. And when enemy units walk in you have a huge range and amount of buildpower to reclaim them.

Also: hives much more hp per mass.
