Let me choose the map pool

The ladder is completely dead in the top 50. Players on FAF who would be pretty good on the ladder do not go on the ladder because 50 maps with very different reclaim and mechanics are too much of a challenge.

Let me chooose 10-15 maps which will be randomly selected for all matchups and let this system work until there is a future fix for the ladder.

Things have gotten worse and worse with the current broken system.

To use a ratio to claim that something is better than its ever been when the top 50 of the ladder is absolutely dead, is bizarre.

My statement has to do with the people I talk to in the lobby and who I try to convice to try and play the ladder.

It may very well be that there is a big influx of new players who are playing the ladder at the lower end, and the reason they are playing is precisely because they are too noob to appreciate that the reason they are losing against those who are higher ranked than them is only because they know the 50 different maps better than them.

Players who are already good, get frustrated when the reason they lose is because they had no idea about 1k reclaim sitting next to their starting position.

This thread can deteriorate into the same BS as all the threads on this top before it, where people who never go near the ladder start to make unprovable claims against unprovable claims.

The ladder has never been this bad in the top 50 or even top 100 over the last few years.

Those of you who love the large map pool, need to start playing better or playing more because I really don't see you on the ladder ever.

I am not suggesting a permanent solution to the ladder pool, only a temporary one in place of the broken system which routinely gives maps that neither player has selected and which are not in the top 15 selected. (most recent example: 2922671)

Well, those kinds of numbers kind of speak for themselves.... If the ladder has been reworked like 5 times and it has the most games ever played on it currently, then I guess there is not as much wrong as you were thinking. Does the map pool need polishing? Yes, some broken maps need removed. Do we need a whole new ladder? Looks like maybe not lol.

Where did Pilot say that it has the most games ever played on it currently? Read what he said

Also even if the ladder has the most total daily games on it than it ever has, it can still be worse than it ever was, with the high game number entirely due to a high influx of new players coming in, who start off playing on the ladder.

Maybe all the people watching brinkofinsantity channel are finally getting the balls to get the game and try it. And when they get here they get abused by a ladder system that is completely skewed toward players who have already played thousands of games.

If we agree that we want FAF to get bigger, then its features should be geared toward an incoming player.

What would be helpful is a graph of the number of ladder games over time with a graph of the number of players over time.

A marginally higher number of games doesn't indicate success if the population doubles or triples.
