Joining modded game

Postby ZLO_RD » 29 Nov 2014, 23:47

When i join game with sim mods, it asks me to download mods
If i say "no" it still lets me join game
then when i join it automaticly kicks me out cause i have no mods

some one was complaining about it in chat but he had no forum account
he mentioned some "issue" and "annoyng" (no idea for host or for one who joins) but i do not know if that join will reset mods that were enabled on hosted game or not.

but anyway, it does not makes any sence to join modded game if you have no mods.

would be good to make it same like with maps to not join game if you said to not download map (or canceled download)

The lobby has an auto-kick feature that is on by default. If a user does not have a mod on it will automatically kick them with a message stating the first mod found (will not list all) that is missing. This was created back in GPGNet so that people do not join games if they do not have the mod. There was quite some grief for the host to find out who does not have the mod and then go back to reactivate mod.

If someone tries to join a modded game without the mod, I think (has not happened to me in quite some time), the mod deactivates, but should immediately reactivate when that player leaves. If the hosts goes to game options in between that period of deactivate then reactivate of the mod, the mod will stay deactivated.

I agree with you on joining games without the proper files, especially the fact that you can clearly see what mods and maps are on by hovering your mouse cursor over the game.

Sometimes though, I turn on a bunch of my personal mods with other mods and check the auto-kick off. This way I do not loose potential players, as it will automatically deactivate my personal mods.
