A few of us have been working on the transition of faf to the next era, under new management, and on new hardware. I'm looking for a few of you willing to test some stuff out.
1. New lobby version
We have the release candidate for version 0.10.122 of the lobby, which needs some field testing. The new version does not introduce any functional changes, but it has some changes incorporated that make it compatible with both the current and the new server. Get it on http://stable.faforever.com/FAForeverLobby-0.10.122.msi and see if it works for you just as version 121 does.
2. New server
Warning: following the instructions below may kill your dog, destroy your computer or light your grandma on fire. Only proceed if you know what you're doing.
Once you've installed version 0.10.122 of the lobby, you can use it to field-test the new server, and see if all features work for you. To connect to the new server instead of the old one, you have to add the following few lines to your hosts-file, which is found at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the file with a notepad started as administrator, and add the following lines:
- Code: Select all

Once you do that, close your web browser and your faf-client, and restart them. Your computer will connect to the new server for everything FA-related. Please note that any changes you make (wiki edits, forum posts, games played, maps/mods uploaded, etc) while you have your changed hostsfile active take place on the new server, and will be discarded once we make the final transition to the new server.
When you want to go back to the old server, forum and website, remove the added stuff from the hostsfile and restart your webbrowser and fafclient.
Any problems you encounter with either the new lobby, or the new server can be reported here in the forum. Thanks!
