Map Issues

Postby Lionhardt » 19 Jun 2014, 10:34

In response to a thread by Anaryl I open this thread here. I would have done it in the mapping section if people would actually go there from time to time...

So, the two maps of mine which are in the automatch pool are currently still version 1.0. They have not had a patch so far. I myself know of a few issues that I want to fix in an upcoming version of both. But there might be issues I am unaware of, as above thread shows.

So, in case you have noticed any issues with either Regor VI Highlands or Crimson Feud and want them to be fixed at some point, please tell me here.

As for Anaryls thread - his accusations are obviously ludicrous.

I think regor is absolutely fine, if he wants to complain let him.
Crimson I have not played much. I think it might be a bit mass heavy for 1v1 (all mexes really close), but as you said, it's a 2v2 map first.

I don't understand what he is mad about. Maybe he is mad about that plant that can block your factory? IMO your Regor & Crimson are great maps where you can do a variety of strategies.

Yes, one of his complaints was that plant at the start location. It is a valid complaint, but only a very minor flaw that does not justify to get actually mad about it in the first place, because you got plenty of space to put your first factory. Basically everywhere but that one single spot... I will fix that anyway, because it IS a flaw after all... just not a big one.

The other things I want to fix are these:

After playing around in the map editor recently for a while i fully appreciate just how much work has gone into both maps.

I think they both look amazing and both work well on 1v1.

Compared to Blasted rock or Craggy Dunes Crimson Feud has very little reclaim, granted you have 10 mex and two hydro at the start but that makes for a quick dynamic map with many strategic options available early.

I echo the post above, i hope you find the time and inspiration to make more as well as tweak these two.
Always ask, "What could i have done better?"

Check if the mountains on the top side are walk-able too please.. if they are walk-able I would request that its not a thing to be fixed since I feel it adds something to the maps.. its not necessarily a flaw, just a personal view.. if everyone else feels differently feel free to fix it.

Which sides and mountains do you mean? There are 4 sides and lots of mountains at them^^

Edit: Read that wrong. Do you mean the ridges separating the plateaus?
