How is a new player supposed to gain suitable global rank even if he is naturally good with the game in 1v1?

Why is there another lobby in the game which is only suitable for dividing a community which is already small? (gw)

How do you prevent wanna be smurfs who intentionally lose a team game on purpose just because there is no easier way for it now?

Will the lobby stay same after the x v x matchmaker is integrated? or is it going to be there like another gw dividing the community even thinner?

Why are you so concerned about rating?

There is a Q&A session every tuesday evening (CET).

The quick answer would be : There is no reason to be concerned.

I am sorry for being vague about it. I am trying to say a naturally good (or an old player coming back) will not gain rank quick enough to get to play with his equals in global ranking now that 1v1 rating is severed and it is VERY hard to gain or even lose global rating now.

edit: just want to point out i do not care about ranks. I just think it should represent the player as correctly as it can.

But it sure steals playtime from ladder and global. I prefer calling it dividing because it means less people on ladder and global.

What exactly is your point? You personally think you are over- or underrated?
Good players will go up fast enough belive me :)

This is not true at all. I was considered underrated for a very long time, because of how slowly you gain rating from teamgames (a lot of games were unrated back then though so I assume gaining rating by teamgames is a little easier now). I gained 100 points a day whenever I decided to play a couple of games of 1v1 ladder, but it took a month or longer to get 100 rating points in teamgames.

I'm sure someone could do some maths on how many games exactly it would take to gain 100 global rating points by doing 4v4 games with say 55% winrate. Even being several hundred rating points underrated it is extremely difficult to get a high winrate in 4v4 games (depending on the map and position of course).

Will be a lot easier to raise your rating playing 2v2 and 3v3 games too, and not just same 5 4v4 maps over and over again where your rating actually becomes less relevant contrary to "map skill".

The higher the number of games; the slower your rating will change.

In team games you can also get a lousy team 15 times in a row and loose 100 points.

this exactly represents why a global only ranking system can't reflect a player's true skill.

Also gaining the true rating of yourself is very hard in global ranking, means if faf were new (ie everyone started up from 0 all over) there would be no way to separate the best players of now in a YEAR from everyone else, which means there would be a pool of players with nothing reliable to rate them according to.

This would lead to unbalanced games where more people rage just because they would think they are in an inferior team and guess what? They would be right for once.

I quite liked the idea of rounding the global ranks to 00's leveling the ground for better team games with less care about ranks. But this severing of the rating system feels like a recession in faf which has been going forward only with renovations.

I think the necessities that brought up this severing decision should be rethought and we shall find a better solution to those necessities. Here is my proposition:

Dump the global rating thing all together!
