Shield diversity

Postby Crotalus » 14 May 2014, 15:58

Resin has made some really good work with personal deflector shields (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6526).

What if we diversify the current shields of the races, without changing the real effect / balance of them? For instance:

UEF:
Current shield mechanics with swallowing everything into the shield.

Aeon:
Reflect a projectile (but with laws of reflection) instead of just swallowing, reduce the damage/velocity of the projectile in the process.

Cybran:
Projectile hitting the shield falls right through with reduced velocity, hitting the ground doing no damage at impact (disabled with EMP)

Seraphim:
Pull the projectiles into the shield generator after it passes the shield. (black hole, antimatter effect)

coughsupcom2

Personally I didn't really like that at all in supcom 2, I like the shields having that sense of a solid energy barrier rather than just some sponge that absorbs most of the damage.

Oh, lol, I haven't ever played Supcom 2 or seen anything about it.

What I mean is making the real effect the same, preventing damage inside the shield. It would just be the visual effect that's different.

I guess it's the logical race diversity with reflect and EMP. May I ask what Seraphim shields do in SupCom2?

There´s an inverse relationship between knowledge about SupCom2 and common sense. The less you know about it the better. It's like X:Rebirth...
