Please don't.
Attempting to ignore my basis for loving UI mods in general -which I do, this 'solution' will cause unneeded strife in the community.
If some games don't allow a white list of mods (which would translate to UI mods really) while others do, now I have to make a choice.
A) Abandon my mods so I can play any game I please.
B) Keep my mods but feel weird when forced to play without.
I'm not saying I personally 'rely' on my mods, but I don't like not having them there. Going from game to game, I can't adjust from my 'mod game' mentality to 'vanilla game' mentality. There would be a lot of 'oh wait, that button doesn't upgrade the nearest mex anymore, shift.' moments that would just add stress.
Which unfortunately, I would be compelled to blame the game for. UI mods don't give a huge game advantage, just makes it more comfortable to all. By saying 'no UI mods for you' you are saying 'you aren't allowed a setup that you find comfortable'. The annoying part is the people that love default get the free ride -they have a setup they love and everyone else is forced to conform to how they like the game set up.
UI mods on the fence between being truly a preference or a flat benefit (the ones this list aims to collect) can be excused under the 'there is a normal way to do it, the mod just makes it feasible to do mid-match' in most(all?) cases.
Those can be dealt with separately without blindly killing off all UI mods and making a rift in the community.
Personally, if this was implemented, I wouldn't play a non-UI game. Which might lead to my eventual leaving of the game -I don't like defaults, they are clunky
to me. I'm not saying 'do this or I quit' but rather 'do this and potentially lose a fair amount of like-minded people'. Again trying to ignore biases, I don't think is worth the risk for either side. Much better solutions exist. And honestly, removing all of them would be way better than letting hosts decide for each game. The community won't be divided -yes we might lose a few people but in a pain-free(or really less overall pain) way. In this case, I'd see myself begrudgingly adapting to game rather than slowly being annoyed until I left for good. (A better choice, no?)
There are still other solutions of course, but coming from a guy in love with his UI mods -please appreciate the fact I think removing them is better for the community than 'half-waying it' by making it a host option.
