I'm a little concerned over the fact that FAF allows UI mods, but not all UI mods are merely adding functionality to the UI.

For example:
Having a mod that automatically shuts down mass fabs for you when you can't power them isn't a UI mod. That's a gameplay mod. A UI mod for that would allow you to select all your mass fabs and turn them on/off.

IMHO - the blurry line has been crossed and we are firmly into gameplay mods being allowed territory.

Honestly, the ladder shouldn't allow these types of things at all - no mods at all. Ladder matches should be played on equal ground. I like hotbuild and gaz-ui, but they are a part of FAF now. If it's not there for everyone, it shouldn't be used in ladder.

For those who will say to me that I can get the same mods, that's true, but, I barely can find the time to play FAF now, much less spend time keeping up with the latest mods. I'd rather spend my time playing and not chasing the latest mods down.

this has several threads with each 20+ pages

which all descended into useless flame wars before being forgotten.


i think it has been agreed that the current stance wont be changed towards ui mods as you describe them.

and it hasn't changed before, so i doubt it will later.


really trying not to start this all over again >_<

I agree with the OP. This is a real downer for newbies trying to get into this game.

Yeah. No. Overstatement. Mass Fab manager wont make you a a good player if you are a bad one and as a good player you should have a balanced eco anyway, combined with the fact that mass fabs are everything but efficient i cant agree that this specific mod is anyhow a problem.

there is no point to build massfabs on 99% of the maps and if you realy have to build them keep your eco balanced.

Build 1 massfab over your energy production and you wont be wasting any energy at all. Extremely useful especially when getting huge energy spikes like ras or t3 pgen. It's a huge advantage if used right.

+1 mass income can give you huge advantage ?
-150 energy income can full use overbuilt power from ras

That is just 1 example. There are tons of mods being used. I just want a level playing field for everyone, specifically for ladder matches. I dont care so much in non-ladder games, but some notification in the game lobby would at least let you know what you need to get to keep up.
