Where do you see FAF and FA in 10 years from now on?

I think at some point the restrictions of the fa engine will be too dominant and FaF will perish because FA is not evolving. The solution could be to develop a LUA API and gamedata compatible OpenFA so that the graphics and physics engine could use modern technology and can be extended afterwards. It was done before with TTD and OpenTTD or with "Elite 2 - Frontier" and glFrontier. Think about maps with 20 players and tenthousands of units without lag.

A lot of work though. Would require a devoted team of programmers that work until job is done. Of course there should be some kind of kickstarting the project so they have money to live.

But with current "I have no time for XYZ, blah, blah..." type of excuses it's undoable.

P.S. The same is being done for Total Annihilation - It's called TA Zero if I remember correctly.
Supreme Commander FAF, Supreme Commander 2 RVE, Planetary Annihilation: Titans - those are only good RTS games left!

When you will spend 1/10th of the time that people who used that "excuse" in making stuff for FA, you will be allowed to say something on that topic.

... Less people plays SC 2 (because SC 3 released xD)
... we solved many issues
... we balanced all
... GW is nearly finished

... we have a new mod vault
... we have a new map vault
... we have a new cool website (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6726&start=20#p66260)
... we have a cool friendlist (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6794#p66637)
... we have a 5th race
... we have a new Notification System (wait ... maybe we have it already in 10 minutes, or 10 hours)


In ten years maybe ...
... we have an android/ipad app
... new units in faf
... new graphic engine
... a better map editor
... more dveloper

It's not my job, I'm not part of the creator's team nor even balance team so why should I?
But believe me, when I have some job to do, I keep doing it until I fall asleep with my face on my keyboard.

Also would be nice if You sticked to the original subject (not mine for the record), because man has a point. And that point should be spoken out loud earlier then later.

OpenTTD was amazing great i still play it from time to time :) just thinking about what could be if fa would be extended in that way is unbeleavable. For me a real important part of a good game with a ethernal future like OpenTTD is a random map creator with good maps. That would be more important even then better grafik or anything else. While playing GW i really liked a lot that there are so many funny unexpected maps, it brings a nice feeling to the game. The real challenge is to win on a map you dont know and not to win a map where you already in cluded every single stone in your BO.

... we play faf in the cloud
... we play faf over voice control & touch & holo visualization
... faf is in the esport league
... faf is free to play
... faf has mirco payments
... Zep has his own game dev studio
... Chris Taylor joined the faf development
... if a player lose connection another player can connect for him (with near the same rating)
