new CPU rating

Postby Deafening Milk » 06 Feb 2014, 18:38

Hi guys, so as the title says this is about my new CPU rating given by the system

So a few days back I used to have a CPU rating of 390-405 (not good I know but I can't afford to get a better cpu or to upgrade it). With the latest update I now have a CPU rating of 520-540 (kind of strange as the scale is 0-450)
Whereas before it was only the odd match someone would bring up concerns about my cpu rating now most lobbys I go in has someone saying how the game will be incredibly slow or demand I am kicked which sucks.
I am a noobish player (630 rating) so it isn't often when I do large team games that the sim speed slows (we aren't as efficient and get less units out than pros) yet even when I've had people from a previous game say I don't make the speed drop a lot of people are still pretty sceptical
So other than the obvious answer of taking out a loan to get a new CPU :p is there anything I can do to improve my rating?

I thought this sub forum was best place to post as its a half rant half help thread so sorry if it is misplaced.

What's your CPU ?

People need to understand that the SupCom is SingleCore.

Exemple you can have i7, but the i5 can be more powerful in SingleCore (not MultiCore).
Some CPU's it's more powerful in SingleCore than MultiCore.

Same for me, was ~390 and now it's 600.
Pentium D @3,4Ghz (yeah I know...)
(it's dual core if you dont know)

It was enough to handle 10x10 4v4 for about 1h without slowing it down, and I was never kicked from games without "good cpu" requirements but now I think with rating well over the scale it might change :P

Nope, and I just played with someone that had ~800 and on 20x10 1h 20min long game he was -4 in the end, that is not so bad for 6 players on such large map I think.
Also, other players with ratings around 200 or lower had only +2 max simspeed by then so I dont think that scales very well...

This new rating is just a bit unfair for slower CPUs, when you see rating like 600 you will think that he gets -3 from the very first minute or something like that.

It goes back to the same problem with the number of ping that was displayed before.

I think if new CPU rating is fair.

Personally, I would not play a thermo with you, who can longer than 2 hours with lots of EXP.

-4 Its starting to get a lot, you should be down you're graphics (which is useless in a strategy game, a shade more or less will not make you win).

From my experience the graphic settings are absolutely useless when it comes to affecting CPU speed...

Can't say what my cpu is I havent a clue tbh but I've played a really long thermo game before and I think the SIM speed went down to -2 but this was with the whole canyon coated in ravagers, tanks, exps and shields never again, thermo is just so dull imo lol
I just hate how now I'm told to leave a lot of lobbys because of this new rating.

Funny how people are so quick to think "a cpu rating this high will make any game lag" without having any experience with the new system nor taking game scale in consideration...

Maybe we just need some help tooltip to educate people. ie : like how many units (average) can be handled at +0 simspeed for each 100 score or something like that.

The tool must help to spot laggers.
But having people that can play 10*10 / 4v4 games getting kicked when they actually can handle the game is sad :(
