[Bug?] Inconsistent destroyer icons

Postby BlackFish » 25 Jan 2014, 03:30

I noticed a while back the Destroyers in FA got their icon changed to a + instead of the two dashes. I noticed today that the cybran destroyer still uses the two dashes vs the uef using the + sign. Is this intentional?

yes,
because the UEF Destroyers has almost no torpedo strength, so it gets the + while the anti-sub ship (Cooper) gets the anti sub icon. (originally both had the same which sometimes led to confusion)

The UEF Destroyer's principle role is anti-surface warfare. So the + is intended to reflect this. It must be respected that while different factions have units with the same designation (Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, etc.) those vessels will have different roles - in keeping the doctrines of each faction. The term "Destroyer" means different things for different factions.
